  • The word-joined cases (camel to Header) split the input on whitespace, hyphens, underscores, dots and slashes, and at camelCase boundaries, so "helloWorld" and "XMLParser" become two words each.
  • Title Case, Sentence case, lowercase, UPPERCASE and mOcKiNg cAsE keep the original spacing and punctuation.
  • Title Case lowercases the text and capitalises the first letter of every whitespace-separated word, including "a" and "of"; it does not apply style-guide exceptions. Sentence case capitalises after a full stop, question mark, exclamation mark or line break.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between camelCase and PascalCase?
Both join words without separators and capitalise each word after the first. camelCase starts with a lowercase letter (userName) and is common for variables; PascalCase starts with an uppercase letter (UserName) and is common for class and type names.
When should I use snake_case instead of kebab-case?
snake_case (user_name) is valid in identifiers in most programming languages and is standard in Python and SQL. kebab-case (user-name) contains a minus sign, so it cannot be an identifier; it is used in URLs, CSS class names and file names.
What is CONSTANT_CASE used for?
Also called SCREAMING_SNAKE_CASE, it is the convention for constants and environment variables, such as MAX_RETRIES or DATABASE_URL, in C, Java, Python, JavaScript and shell scripts.
